Acrylic Mediums
We offer a wide range of mediums for use with our acrylic paints. There are binders, extenders, matt extenders, thickeners, glazing mediums and retarders. See individual products for details of their effects.

PVA Homopolymer

Acrylic Copolymer Emulsion
Acrylic Copolymer Emulsion a 100% acrylic resin, used to extend acrylic colours and increase gloss. Use in any proportion.

Matt Acrylic Copolymer Emulsion
Matt Acrylic Copolymer Emulsion a 100% acrylic resin, with a matt finish. Used to mix with acrylic colours. To maintain viscosity and consistency of the paint. Use in any proportion.

Acrylic Gel
Acrylic Gel basically the same as Acrylic Copolymer Emulsion in gel form, used to extend acrylic colours and increase gloss. The gel form retains the original, acrylic colour viscosity and gel. Use in any proportion.

Matt Acrylic Gel
Matt Acrylic Gel works the same as Acrylic Gel but in matt form. Will reduce gloss of acrylic colours. Use in any proportion.

Opaque Acrylic Paste
Opaque Acrylic Paste used to extend Spectracryl colours when an opaque matt finish is required. Can be used in any ratio. Used by some artists for modelling. Further thickening of the Opaque Acrylic Paste can be obtained by adding Polymeric Thickener by the drop.

Acrylic Glazing Medium
Acrylic Glazing Medium is to be added to Spectracryl colours to increase gloss and reduce brush marks. Not to be used as a varnish.

Gel Retarder
Gel Retarder add to acrylic colours to increase working time of paint, while applying at high ambient temperatures. Amount used will depend on prevailing working conditions.

Screenprint Gel
Screenprint Gel for use with acrylic colours for screen-printing. Will allow painting to continue for a working shift without drying hard on the screen. Add up to 25% by volume. Dry paints with hot air, infrared or drying tunnel. Will dry normally overnight, at room temperature - 15° C. This product is the same as the former Spectracolor Print Gel.
